Our Story

Dear Friends,

High Balsam Farm began as a simple vision: to build something rooted in sustainability, connection, and care for the land. Nestled along a creek with its many microclimates, this small patch of earth holds immense potential. From the beginning, it has inspired me to grow not just food and flowers, but community.

With a background in science and mental health—and a lifelong love of growing—I’ve found deep meaning in cultivating mushrooms, specialty flowers, and fresh greens through permaculture practices. These offerings aren’t just products; they’re invitations. Invitations to learn, to taste, to gather, and to reconnect with the natural world.

This land carries a history deeper than our own. It was once stewarded by Indigenous people, whose relationship to this place was disrupted through colonization and displacement. We acknowledge this truth with humility and strive to honor the spirit of stewardship in all that we do.

It’s my hope that everyone who visits High Balsam Farm leaves feeling more connected—to the earth, to themselves, and to each other. Whether you’re here to shop, learn, volunteer, or simply walk among the blooms, I hope you feel a sense of belonging and empowerment.

Everything we grow is done in small batches, with care and intention, right here in Lakewood, Colorado. We pour our hearts into growing food, flowers, and experiences that nourish both people and place.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

With Gratitude,

Beth Lloyd
