Farm Tours
A guided tour through a real, working urban farm — thoughtfully tended and shaped by the season.
Come experience how this place grows.
Come see the Farm
High Balsam Farm is a one-acre urban farm in Lakewood, Colorado, rooted in mushroom cultivation, permaculture, and seasonal growing.
Many of our workshops, gatherings, and special events include a guided walk through the farm — offering a behind-the-scenes look at how food, fungi, and soil work together in an urban setting, and why we grow the way we do.
What a Farm Tour Includes
Farm tours are woven into select events and workshops and offer a hands-on look at the systems that support the farm. You’ll explore:
Over 1,300 row feet of vegetables, herbs, and greens grown using permaculture principles
Mushroom cultivation, from inoculation and substrate preparation to fruiting and harvest
Because the farm shifts with the season, no two tours are exactly the same.
Why We Grow This Way
We use regenerative, permaculture-based practices — including hügelkultur, soil regeneration, water conservation, and the essential work of mycelium — to support soil health, water filtration, and long-term resilience. Our goal is simple: care for the systems that make growing possible.
A Seasonal Element in Every Visit
Each visit includes a small seasonal offering shaped by what’s ready at the time — harvesting greens, taking home mushrooms, creating a bouquet, or enjoying a simple farm-made treat. These moments change throughout the year and reflect the season you’re visiting in.
Stay Connected to the Farm
Because our farm tours don’t follow a fixed schedule, the best way to stay informed about upcoming events and seasonal offerings is through our newsletter.
We share updates about what’s growing, upcoming workshops and gatherings, and occasional behind-the-scenes notes from the farm.
